PART I: ENGLISH VERSION – PRIVACY POLICY

This Privacy Policy describes Our policies and procedures on the collection, use, and disclosure of Your information when You use the Doc.Deutsch iOS application and website ("the App", "the Service"). It also details Your privacy rights under the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable data protection laws.

By using the Service, You agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect (Principle of Data Minimization)

In strict compliance with GDPR Article 5(1)(c) (Data Minimization), We only collect the minimum data necessary to operate the Service. We do not collect your real full name, date of birth, university/faculty name, or graduation year.

• A. Account & Profile Data:
  • Contact Data: Your email address (stored strictly within our authentication system for login, password recovery, and essential account security; Your email address is never stored in public profile documents or displayed to other users).
  • Optional Username: An optional username/nickname if You choose to set one. If You leave this blank, You will appear simply as an anonymous user ("Anonymous Doctor").
• B. Authentication Data: You may register using third-party services (Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google), via email and password, or use the App in Guest Mode. We utilize Google Firebase Authentication to securely manage your credentials. We do not store or have access to your passwords.
• C. Learning Progress & Gamification Data: To synchronize your study progress across devices, We store the IDs of vocabulary items, medical terms (Fachbegriffe), verbs, and cases you have studied, along with your daily goal, streak count, and study points.
  • Leaderboard Visibility: The in-app Leaderboard displays only your chosen optional username (or "Anonymous Doctor" if none is set) and your study points. Your email address is never visible to or accessible by other users.
• D. Technical & Usage Data: When You access the Service through a mobile device or web browser, basic technical data (such as device type, operating system version, anonymous crash/diagnostic logs, and IP address) may be processed automatically to ensure stability, security, and fraud prevention.

2. How We Use Your Data & Legal Basis (GDPR Art. 6)

We process Your Personal Data only where we have a valid legal basis under GDPR Article 6(1):

• To Provide and Maintain our Service (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR – Performance of a Contract): Tracking your daily vocabulary learning goals, user streaks, module progression, and account authentication.
• To Contact You (Art. 6(1)(b) & (f) GDPR): Sending essential transactional emails such as email verification, password reset links, or critical security/service updates.
• For Marketing Communications (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR – Explicit Consent): Only if You explicitly enabled the optional "Marketing Consent" toggle during registration, We may send You educational updates, newsletters, and special offers. You may withdraw this consent at any time.
• Security & Service Improvement (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – Legitimate Interests): Ensuring the technical stability and security of the App.

3. Third-Party Services We Use

We employ trusted third-party infrastructure providers strictly to facilitate our Service:

• Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication & Cloud Firestore): Provided by Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC, used for secure authentication and cloud synchronization of your learning progress. Data transfers outside the EEA are safeguarded by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
• Apple (Sign in with Apple): Used for privacy-preserving authentication in accordance with Apple's privacy policies.
• Google (Sign in with Google): Used for optional single sign-on authentication in accordance with Google's privacy policies.

We do not sell, rent, or trade Your Personal Data to third parties, and we do not track you across third-party apps or websites for advertising purposes.

4. Data Retention & Security

Your profile data and learning history are stored on encrypted Google Firebase servers. We retain Your account data only for as long as Your account remains active. When You delete Your account, Your personal data and all learning subcollections are permanently deleted.

5. Your Data Protection Rights (GDPR)

Under the GDPR, You have the following rights:

• Right of Access (Art. 15 GDPR) & Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR): Request a copy of your data or update your optional username at any time in the App.
• Right to Erasure / "Right to be Forgotten" (Art. 17 GDPR): You can instantly and permanently delete your account and all associated learning data directly inside the App at any time by navigating to Profile -> Delete Account. Alternatively, You may request deletion by emailing us at info@docdeutsch.com.
• Right to Data Portability (Art. 20 GDPR) & Restriction of Processing (Art. 18 GDPR).
• Right to Withdraw Consent (Art. 7(3) GDPR): Withdraw marketing consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
• Right to Lodge a Complaint (Art. 77 GDPR): Lodge a complaint with a supervisory data protection authority.

6. Cookies and Website Technologies

When You access our website (docdeutsch.com), we use cookies in compliance with GDPR and the EU ePrivacy Directive:

• Strictly Necessary Cookies: Essential for website navigation and security (CSRF protection csrftoken and session authentication sessionid).
• Preference & Functional Cookies: Remember your selected interface language (django_language).
• Analytics & Performance: Used internally to understand aggregate page views and improve site quality.

7. Age Requirement

Our Service is intended exclusively for adult medical professionals, medical graduates, and medical students. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 16.

TEIL II: DEUTSCHE FASSUNG – DATENSCHUTZERKLÄRUNG

Diese Datenschutzerklärung informiert Sie über die Art, den Umfang und den Zweck der Verarbeitung personenbezogener Daten bei der Nutzung der iOS-Applikation und der Website Doc.Deutsch („die App“, „der Dienst“) sowie über Ihre Rechte nach der Datenschutz-Grundverordnung (DSGVO).

1. Welche Daten wir erheben (Grundsatz der Datenminimierung)

Gemäß dem Grundsatz der Datenminimierung (Art. 5 Abs. 1 lit. c DSGVO) erheben wir nur die Daten, die für den Betrieb des Dienstes technisch notwendig sind. Wir erheben keinen vollständigen Klarnamen, kein Geburtsdatum, keine Universitäts-/Fakultätsangaben und kein Abschlussjahr.

• A. Konto- und Profildaten:
  • Kontaktdaten: Ihre E-Mail-Adresse (wird ausschließlich im Authentifizierungssystem für den Login, das Zurücksetzen des Passworts und die Kontosicherheit gespeichert; Ihre E-Mail-Adresse wird niemals in öffentlichen Profildokumenten gespeichert oder anderen Nutzern angezeigt).
  • Optionaler Benutzername: Ein freiwilliger Benutzername (Nickname), sofern Sie einen festlegen möchten. Wenn Sie dieses Feld leer lassen, werden Sie anonym („Anonymer Arzt“) geführt.
• B. Authentifizierungsdaten: Sie können sich per E-Mail und Passwort, über Drittanbieter (Anmelden mit Apple / Anmelden mit Google) registrieren oder die App im Gastmodus nutzen. Zur sicheren Verwaltung Ihrer Zugangsdaten nutzen wir Google Firebase Authentication. Wir haben keinen Zugriff auf Ihr Passwort.
• C. Lernfortschritts- und Gamification-Daten: Zur Synchronisierung Ihres Lernfortschritts speichern wir die IDs der gelernten Begriffe (Fachbegriffe), Verben und Fälle sowie Ihr Tagesziel, Ihre Lernserie (Streak) und Ihre Punkte.
  • Sichtbarkeit in der Rangliste (Leaderboard): In der Rangliste werden ausschließlich Ihr optional gewählter Benutzername (oder „Anonymer Arzt“, falls keiner gewählt wurde) sowie Ihr Punktestand angezeigt. Ihre E-Mail-Adresse ist für andere Nutzer zu keinem Zeitpunkt einsehbar.
• D. Technische Nutzungsdaten: Beim Zugriff auf die App oder Website werden technisch notwendige Daten (Gerätetyp, Betriebssystemversion, anonyme Fehlerprotokolle, IP-Adresse) verarbeitet, um die Sicherheit und Stabilität des Dienstes zu gewährleisten.

2. Zwecke der Verarbeitung und Rechtsgrundlagen (Art. 6 DSGVO)

Wir verarbeiten Ihre personenbezogenen Daten ausschließlich auf Basis folgender Rechtsgrundlagen der DSGVO:

• Bereitstellung des Dienstes und Vertragserfüllung (Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO): Nutzerauthentifizierung, Speicherung und Synchronisierung Ihres Lernfortschritts, Verwaltung Ihres Kontos.
• System- und Sicherheitskommunikation (Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b und f DSGVO): Versand notwendiger System-E-Mails (z. B. E-Mail-Bestätigung, Passwort-Reset, sicherheitsrelevante Hinweise).
• Marketing-Kommunikation (Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO – Einwilligung): Nur sofern Sie bei der Registrierung ausdrücklich die optionale Marketing-Einwilligung aktiviert haben, senden wir Ihnen Informationen zu Neuerungen und Angeboten. Sie können diese Einwilligung jederzeit mit Wirkung für die Zukunft widerrufen.
• IT-Sicherheit und Stabilität (Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO – Berechtigtes Interesse): Gewährleistung der technischen Funktionsfähigkeit und Schutz vor Missbrauch.

3. Eingesetzte Drittanbieter und Datenübermittlung

Zur technischen Bereitstellung unseres Dienstes setzen wir weisungsgebundene Auftragsverarbeiter ein:

• Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication & Cloud Firestore): Bereitgestellt durch Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC zur sicheren Authentifizierung und Cloud-Synchronisierung des Lernfortschritts. Datenübermittlungen in die USA erfolgen auf Grundlage des EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework sowie der Standardvertragsklauseln (SCCs) der Europäischen Kommission.
• Apple (Sign in with Apple) & Google (Sign in with Google): Für die optionale Anmeldung über Ihr bestehendes Apple- oder Google-Konto gemäß deren jeweiligen Datenschutzbestimmungen.

Wir verkaufen oder vermieten Ihre personenbezogenen Daten nicht an Dritte und führen kein app- oder webseitenübergreifendes Werbe-Tracking durch.

4. Speicherdauer und Datensicherheit

Ihre Daten werden über verschlüsselte Verbindungen übertragen und auf Servern von Google Firebase gespeichert. Wir speichern Ihre Kontodaten nur solange Ihr Konto aktiv ist. Bei Löschung Ihres Kontos werden Ihr Profil sowie sämtliche Lern-Unterkollektionen unwiderruflich gelöscht.

5. Ihre Betroffenenrechte nach der DSGVO

Sie haben nach der DSGVO jederzeit folgende Rechte:

• Recht auf Auskunft (Art. 15 DSGVO) und Berichtigung (Art. 16 DSGVO).
• Recht auf Löschung / „Recht auf Vergessenwerden“ (Art. 17 DSGVO): Sie können Ihr Konto und alle damit verbundenen Lerndaten jederzeit direkt in der App unter „Profil -> Konto löschen“ (Delete Account) sofort und vollständig löschen oder die Löschung per E-Mail an info@docdeutsch.com anfordern.
• Recht auf Einschränkung der Verarbeitung (Art. 18 DSGVO) und Datenübertragbarkeit (Art. 20 DSGVO).
• Widerrufsrecht (Art. 7 Abs. 3 DSGVO): Sie können erteilte Einwilligungen jederzeit widerrufen.
• Beschwerderecht (Art. 77 DSGVO): Sie haben das Recht, sich bei einer Datenschutz-Aufsichtsbehörde zu beschweren.

6. Cookies auf unserer Website

Beim Besuch unserer Website (docdeutsch.com) setzen wir Cookies im Einklang mit der DSGVO und dem TDDDG ein:

• Technisch notwendige Cookies: Erforderlich für Sicherheit und Seitennavigation (csrftoken, sessionid).
• Funktionale Cookies: Speicherung Ihrer gewählten Spracheinstellung (django_language).

7. Altersbeschränkung

Unser Angebot richtet sich ausschließlich an volljährige Ärztinnen und Ärzte sowie Medizinstudierende. Wir erheben wissentlich keine personenbezogenen Daten von Personen unter 16 Jahren.
